GMA Pictures and Mic Test Entertainment’s film, Family History is set to stream on Netflix Philippines beginning July 30. The movie, released theatrically in 2019, received critical acclaim and was a box office success. It is the directorial debut of the Asian Creative Academy awardee, and Philippine comedian Michael V. Family History is the latest addition to the growing list of GMA Network content available on Netflix Philippines including the internationally-acclaimed primetime series Descendants of the Sun Philippines, anthology series I Can See You, and the top-rating drama series Love of My Life.

The movie follows the story of Alex’s, played by Michael V. His life is as picture-perfect as the animation he creates. He has a happy family with his wife, May, portrayed by actress Dawn Zulueta, and son, Malix, played by Miguel Tanfelix (Sahaya, Heart and Soul). At the animation studio where he works, his creativity and professionalism earned him the respect of his peers. However, his perfect life is shattered when May discloses that she has stage 4 kidney cancer. Alex is devastated but tries his best to put up a brave front, especially for their son. With death looming over her, May decides to confess to Alex another ugly secret that she has kept: a two-year illicit affair with another man who she refuses to name.

Alex’s world comes crashing down because of May’s confession, which adversely affects his mind and his work. His imagination, once his tool to create beautiful images, is now used to conjure absurd and destructive scenarios, which is his way to vent his bottled-up anger. He entertains the idea finding solace even in the arms of someone else’s wife. As May’s health spirals, Alex unwittingly discovers the true identity of her lover and the complexities of their intertwined love affairs.
