Ysabel is a devoted single mother who struggles with caring for her ailing daughter, Maymay. The child has leukemia and her treatment is very expensive. Ysabel works as a modest personal assistant to Scarlet, a materialistic former beauty queen. Javier, Scarlet’s husband, is a successful businessman who provides her with everything she wants. His only wish is to have a child of his own.

However, Scarlet had an abortion when she was younger which resulted in her inability to bear any more children. She hides this from Javier and convinces him that she is just not ready for the hardship of childbirth. She suggests that they opt for hiring a surrogate. The couple chooses Ysabel because she is a trusted friend and she also needs the money they will pay her.

However, during Ysabel’s pregnancy, her daughter Maymay gets into a terrible accident and passes away. Maymay’s death depresses Ysabel and she runs away with her unborn child. When she delivers, she names the child Maya, in memory of Maymay.

Many years later, Scarlet finally catches up with Ysabel and forcibly takes Maya back. Who is the child’s rightful and lawful mother? Is blood truly thicker than water? Will Ysabel ever see Maya again?
